Our very own Antonie Christie, blitzes the comrades down run. Nearly as fast as the throughput of a MC7000.
Antonie Christie from Metacom Engineering achieved his goal of completing a second Comrades Marathon, which is a real achievement with a superb finish time. As a result, Antonie was awarded a Bill Rowan medal for his “blitz” time of 08h23m49s at an average pace of 05:45 min/km! The Bill Rowan medal was introduced in the millennium year to recognize runners who completed the marathon in under 9 hours but didn’t make the 7-hour cut-off for a silver medal. The medal was named after Bill Rowan, the winner of the first Comrades Marathon in 1921. The time limit for this medal was inspired by Rowan's victorious time of 8hrs 59min. We wish Antonie a speedy recovery from Comrades Race Day and all the best as he thinks about the up run, 2024.
